Most of us wait with baited breathe for Summer to arrive, not knowing the symbolism behind it.
Now, Midsummer (or in other cultures Litha or Summer Equinox/Solstice) will be upon us on around the 20th-21st of June. It is probably one of the most celebrated Sabbats of the year. The sun will be reaching its highest point and is shining at full strength, no wonder everyone gets in the mood to shine!
Many religions recognise Midsummer as a powerful time to connect with their gods and ancestors. Celebrations are generally focused on abundance, success and the how glorious Midsummer has improved our lives. This is a time for play, to bathe in the light and warmth of the Sun.
So what can you do to celebrate and get the most out of Litha?
Do tarot spreads related to love, romance and passion
Have a BBQ – include lots of meats and summer fruits
Make a list of goals you’d like to accomplish over the summer then pick the most important and make a plans to complete it
Write down anything that needs to be released from your life on small sheets of paper, then hold a ritual to burn these things away. You can do this outside or at your altar in a cauldron or fireproof container (safety first!)
Bring fresh, yellow flowers into the home – consider roses, daffodils or gerberas
Hold ritual or do a spell at noon, when the sun is at it’s strongest
These are but only a few of many rituals you can do at home. Summer is a celebration of light and love! Bask in the rays my lovelies.
I also have created a spread for you to bring in the solstice spirit. The best time to do this spread is noon during the week of the solstice. I would love to see what your spreads come out like so please use the #thewaywardwitch on Instagram!
