Mercury Retrograde Season is Here!

It will soon be descending upon us. Mercury Retrograde can strike fear into many and leave most battered and bruised after it has gone. However, some of us aren't even sure what the retrograde means and what we should do during this time.

Astrologists the AstroTwins described Mercury retrograde "Three or four times a year, Mercury passes the earth in its orbit. As it rounds the bend, Mercury slows down and appears to stop (station) and spin backwards (retrograde). Of course, it really ISN’T moving backwards, but much like two trains or cars passing each other, this creates the optical illusion that one (Mercury, in this case) is going backwards."

So what does that mean? While Mercury is in retrograde communication, technology and travel start being crazy. Some people recommend you be cautious about booking a trip, if you don't usually pay for insurance while travelling this would be the best time to do so. This is the most common example, but the main point that is stressed is invest in back ups. Don't be surprised when electronics start playing up. Those photos you uploaded the other day, and now they are nowhere to be found? What we do during this time has the potential to create unexpected hurdles. This is the opportune moment to practice patience or better yet caution.

The recommendations I see on the internet are fab, but I feel that they do miss the mark on one thing. Be kind to yourself. Even with all the planning in the world, something may go wrong, and you don't need to beat yourself up about it. So when you are delayed getting into work (and you left early just to be safe), accept where you are and that it will work out in the end. Pick a song to listen to or an inspirational podcast, look out the window of your car, bus or train and just taken in nature. IT IS OK.

What else should you expect? Negotiations on contracts and projects may become very tedious so it might be best to put them hold (if possible). Otherwise, you can renegotiate current plans or agreements that a not fulfilling their potential. Check on your data storage, back up photos on to laptops or save essential emails in secured folders. These precautions are not only sensible but realistic, because I mean Mercury retrograde is not the only time where data lets us down! There are plenty of ways you can logically make sure you have a backup.

I agree that Mercury Retrograde is a great time to take stock of where you are. Many call this time the review period. What needs attention in your life? Should I pick up a project I put to the wayside? For me, I connect with the divine. I use my tarot cards in spreads to guide me in this time of reflection. Everyone has their own way of using the retrograde to their advantage, the main point of it all is to treat every moment with understanding, caution and forgiveness. You definitely will benefit from having those types of outlooks.
